MOM'S APPLE CAKE
(Mary's Apple Cake)


 

1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 c. sliced apples
1 c. walnuts
powdered sugar

1 c. cooking oil
3 eggs
1 T. water
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt





Blend: cooking oil, eggs, water, and sugar. Add: flour, salt, baking soda, and
cinnamon. Mix until blended. Stir in: sliced apples and walnuts. Grease and flour 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 1 hour at 350°. Cool. Decorate top with mixture of powdered sugar and water.

Note: I would ask Mom to bake this cake for my birthday or other times I visited her. I know it took her a long time to make. It is my favorite desert recipe that she made.

JEREMY'S SHEATH CAKE

Cake







In first bowl, add flour, sugar and cinnamon. In a pan combine cocoa, Crisco, water and margarine. Bring to quick boil and pour over flour mixture. In another bowl add eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Then add all together, mix well. Pour into 9 x 11 inch pan. Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 min. (Don't cook too long)

1 stick margarine
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 T. cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. water

Icing
 

2 T. vanilla
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. pecans

1 stick margarine
6 T. can milk
4 T. cocoa



Melt butter in sauce pan, add milk, cocoa, vanilla, sugar and pecans. Cook on top of stove at low - medium until icing is thick. After cake is cool, pour the icing onto the cake.

Note: After a day or so if you want, put a slice into microwave and heat it.It's so good warm.
